EPA announced plans to withdraw a Trump administration decision that had allowed the state of Oklahoma, not tribal nations, to regulate environmental issues on tribal land. EPA would be withdrawing and reconsidering the October 1, 2020 decision that approved the Governor of Oklahoma’s request to extend approval of the state’s environmental regulation on Indian country under the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Act of 2005. EPA is seeking comment on the proposal until Jan. 31, 2022. Read more about the proposed withdrawal.
