FERC issued a unanimous decision redesignating the policy brief issued on February 17 a “draft policy statement” and reverting back to the agency’s prior method for reviewing natural gas pipeline applications. The policy brief issued on February 17 would have required FERC to consider a proposed project’s effect on climate change and a wider set of impacts on landowners and environmental justice communities. FERC Chair Richard Glick said the new guidelines “could benefit from further clarification.”
