President Biden established the Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni-Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument. The monument included three areas north and south of Grand Canyon National Park, and included the homelands and sacred sites for several Tribal Nations. The Presidential Proclamation called for the Secretaries of the Interior and Agriculture to explore opportunities for Tribal co-stewardship of the monument, and to create a monument advisory committee with representatives from Tribal Nations and other organizations.
