The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a final rule announcing new Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards for cars and light-duty trucks (MY 2024-2026). NHTSA anticipated that the rule would result in significant cost savings and reduced GHG and air pollutant emissions from these vehicles, benefiting communities near heavily trafficked roads, which are disproportionately low-income communities of color.
