Report, Rollback

On July 14, 2025 NASA took down globalchange.gov which provided access to the National Climate Assessments. The reports are still available through NOAA’s documents repository. In April 2025 NASA canceled contracts with the lead firm working on the next National Climate Assessment putting completion of the next climate assessment in jeopardy.

Background

On Nov. 14, 2023, NOAA announced the release of the Fifth National Climate Assessment (NCA5) to help communities prepare for and respond to climate change. NOAA provided physical science data as well as the agency’s work on regionally-based climate resiliency, community engagement and environmental justice to NCA5. The assessment emphasized the importance of Indigenous knowledge to understand climate change impacts and environmental justice to understand unequal impacts of climate change. Read the NCA5.
