The White House published a draft Community Heat Action Checklist. This checklist was intended to serve as an entry point for communities when taking initial steps to plan for extreme heat, particularly those that are historically marginalized or do not have the experience, background, or lead time to develop a comprehensive plan. This checklist was published in light of the fact that a vast majority of municipalities do not have explicit plans to address extreme heat. The tool is meant to supplement existing stools on Heat.gov to help local communities assess and address their heat risk.
