Rollback: DOE Rescinded Guidance for DEI and EJ Programs

DOE rescinded policy guidance issued under President Biden related to implementation of the Justice40 Initiative, the use of community benefit plans (CBPs), and increasing opportunities for new entrants, among other programs. DOE’s Office of Science also announced it will no longer require Promoting Inclusive and Equitable Research (PIER) Plans in funding proposals. Under President Biden, DOE required applicants seeking certain types of agency funding to submit PIER Plans outlining measurable, specific steps to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in their research projects.
