EPA removed EJScreen, the EPA’s primary EJ mapping platform, from its website. EJScreen provided critical data on local pollution burdens and demographic indicators. The tool allowed users to conduct EJ analysis for different pollutants and populations on federal, state, and city levels.
EPA’s ECHO (Enforcement and Compliance History Online) Clean Air Tracking Tool and the Chemical Data Reporting (CDR) National Review, which used demographic indices from EJScreen, now also have reduced capabilities. The EJ categories remain visible, but cannot be selected as adjustable layers.

Background
In July 2024, EPA released EJSCREEN 2.3, which added data on nitrogen dioxide levels, drinking water non-compliance, extreme heat, private drinking wells, air toxics cancer risk, and EJ grants from EPA’s OEJECR, among other changes.
