EPA finalized the cancellation of all products containing the pesticide dimethyl tetrachloroterephthalate (DCPA or Dacthal). The action prohibits anyone from distributing or selling those products. Learn more about EPA’s cancellation of DCPA products and read the final cancellation order. The order took effect on Oct. 23, 2024.

EPA previously announced its decision to voluntarily cancel all pesticide products containing DCPA, and made the decision available for public inspection. EPA moved to prevent the use of DCPA due to its harmful impacts on unborn babies who are exposed in utero. Under FIFRA, a registrant may cancel the registration of a pesticide at any time, and EPA took this action in reliance on new research on the harmful effects of DCPA.
