EPA launched a new mapping tool to show projected sea level rise around hazardous waste facilities. This data visualization tool will give estimations on flood zones along the U.S. coastlines. The tool is expected to better help coastal communities prepare for the impacts of climate change, particularly sea level rise vulnerabilities that those communities face. EPA found in its 2019 Biennial Report that 1.6 million tons of hazardous waste are managed at over 55 facilities affected by five or more feet of sea level rise.
