EPA announced a new Get the Lead Out (GLO) initiative to ensure safer drinking water for underserved communities nationwide. As part of the initiative, EPA will provide technical assistance to identify and remove lead service lines as part of Biden’s Investing in America Agenda. The GLO initiative is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and is in partnership with the Department of Labor. The GLO initiative builds on EPA’s Lead Service Line Replacement Accelerators initiative which is a partnership with the Department of Labor and the states of Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Wisconsin. The GLO initiative will partner with 200 underserved communities to help them identify lead service lines, develop removal plans, and apply for necessary funding. Communities can request assistance by participating in the Get the Lead Out initiative online.
