EPA proposed high-priority designations for five chemical substances under TSCA, beginning the process of risk assessments to determine the impacts of the chemical substances on communities and individuals, including the effects of bioaccumulation. The prioritization and associated risk assessments are the first steps in the process to control the suspected carcinogenic substances. The proposed action is in line with the Biden-Harris administration’s Cancer Moonshot and efforts to advance environmental justice. Comments on the proposed designation are due by Oct. 23, 2024.
