On Oct. 10, 2025, FERC removed a requirement that natural gas projects pause development while appeals from affected stakeholders, landowners, and communities proceeded. FERC stated its new rule advanced its statutory mission under the Natural Gas Act to “encourage the orderly development of plentiful supplies of . . . natural gas at reasonable prices.” FERC’s new rule rescinded a Biden-era order that paused natural gas projects while rehearing proceedings were ongoing.
