Our Work

Our track record of engaging federal and state regulators, NGOs, think tanks, and private companies to help solve the legal bottlenecks for key regulations positions us to identify and promote legally durable policies critical to decarbonization. Our work consists of several portfolios:

Federal Climate and Public Health Rules
  • Federal Climate and Clean Energy Regulations—advising policymakers on durable policy options and helping to defend those regulations
  • Stakeholder Engagement for the Legal Defense of Clean Energy Rules—working with companies and experts to engage on clean energy regulations to support their design and legal durability
  • Environmental Justice—supporting community and coalition-based efforts to address longstanding inequities in federal environmental law and policy
  • Regulatory and Policy Trackers—chronicling the Biden administration’s steps to advance clean energy deployment, environmental and public health protections, and environmental justice to explain progress and ensure accountability
Electricity Law Initiative

Advising the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and policymakers on advancing the clean energy transition by informing state energy policies and supporting the incorporation of clean energy goals into FERC’s regulation of interstate power markets and transmission development.

State and Regional Climate strategies

Supporting a collaborative network to help states to advance and implement resilient clean energy policies.

Corporate Climate Disclosures and Financial Requirements

Assessing the legal implications for companies’ net-zero targets and federal efforts to strengthen corporate disclosure of climate risks.

We’ve conducted focused research in other areas in response to current events and student interest. These include sea level rise response and adaptation, preparing for the Biden administration, and tracking and analyzing Trump-Era rollbacks to rules and agencies.
